Theo Bunch leads our Build Trybe team, teaching our students the practical skills of tending to plants while also being a mentor and role model to them. Here's a beautiful letter he wrote about a typical day on the farm site at our Gillis Campus.
Do you remember a person - maybe it was a teacher, a coach, or even a supervisor - who listened, gave you advice, and helped you navigate the world around you? As part of our Build Trybe program, youth learn to grow and prepare fruits and vegetables, and are empowered to share the food and lessons with their families and neighbors. Last week, they had the opportunity to harvest, prepare and taste something new – kale! You, too, can try your hand and recreate their recipe at home!

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith and his wife Elizabeth are dedicated to helping foster care youth achieve their academic dreams. Together, they have been a life-changing partner for many young people in our YES (Youth Educational Success) Program. We are so pleased to be honoring Alex and Elizabeth for all they have done at our Spirit Awards on April 22 at the Kansas City Convention Center.
